Tobias was awarded money to buy the wood to make his first cello, illustrated here.  The support the Trust gave meant that he was able to afford to buy better-quality wood, and with that in hand, he was able to dedicate more time to the workshop and less to outside paid work.  Tobias showed the finished cello at the 2006 BVMA Makers' Day at the Royal Academy of Music, London.

In addition to the financial support, Tobias was awarded a workshop placement with Marc Soubeyran, which was spent setting up a violin.
