Silvia was awarded a work placement which took place during the third year of her course at Newark. She writes of it: "I've been granted a workshop placement with Marc Soubeyran in Ludlow, where I did a complete set up on one of my violins within three days. I did indeed have a fantastic time there and I learned astonishingly much in the comparatively short period of time. We've been discussing a lot how different ways of setting up an instrument change the sound and he made me think deeper about all the details in the making process which affect the instrument acoustically. Also technically and stylistically I often had enlightening moments and changed my way of working. I am truly grateful for this wonderful opportunity! The pictures show the violin I've been working on with Marc."
