“I was given some wood for violas and a work placement with Helen Michetschläger.

The wood has turned into a baroque viola modelled on a Maggini contralto.

The two weeks in Helen's workshop were very interesting, especially as Helen is very experienced with making Brescian model instruments. We started making two violas.  Amongst other things I rough arched a back with a plane, which I had never done before and Helen bent a front while I was there... A lot of hints and techniques and ideas, that I brought home after these two weeks and I am very thankful for.”
