During his first year at West Dean, Jonathan was awarded a grant towards the purchase of tools. He writes:
"I wish to thank everyone at the RAB Trust for generously awarding me some excellent tools. With these tools, I now feel confident and look forward to making more instruments and developing my style.”
Jonathan receive a further grant in 2011 of funding towards tools for setting up instruments, and also a set of G cramps from the estate of Dietrich Kessler.
